Twisties

TWISTIES are derived from ancient Asian calligraphy. The yellow color refers to my sunflowers and dandelions. I decided on the name TWISTIES to pay homage to Simone Biles’ self-ownership in the 2020 Olympics when she experienced the “twisties” and could not compete. My TWISTIES also resemble beautiful, disoriented gymnastics trajectories. The minimalist way they divide the sky projects the power of the gentle line, like drawings into the sky, projecting a vulnerability rarely seen in monumental public sculpture.
